The 10 most beautiful flowering plants in June

The Content Of The Article:

While in May, the supply of flowering shrubs is still quite manageable, we can already fall back in June on a variety of flowering species and varieties. At the edge of the wood and in the clear shade, the small flowers of the star umbels (Astrantia) conjure up the first splashes of color in the bed. They bloom in white, pink to dark red depending on the species and variety and prefer a nutritious, sunny to partially shaded location. Particularly beautiful are varieties of the Great Star Thousand (Astrantia major), whose flowers can reach a diameter of up to 9 centimeters. In the deep shadow and partial shade, the feathery panicles of the poplars (Astilbe), which can grow up to 60 centimeters, depending on the variety, immediately catch the eye. These flowering plants are absolutely recommendable because of their bright flower colors - from white to cream yellow and pink to dark carmine red - as they thrive in the deepest shade under large woody plants and provide color there until late September.

Also among the shade-loving perennials is the forest-goat beard (Aruncus dioicus), which is still far too rarely used in our gardens. He can be man-high and is particularly well suited for humus and nutrient-rich locations on the woody edge. With its white flower spikes it brings some light into dark garden corners. The mountain knapweed (Centaurea montana), which we know from native forests, is slightly brighter. It opens its cornflower-like flowers from May to July, which vary from white to pink to dark purple, depending on the variety, and thrives best in a sunny to partially shaded spot in the garden. At such a location also feels at home with us Blue Mountain Monk's Hat (Aconitum napellus) well. With its beautiful flower spikes that it displays into July, it is an indispensable cottage garden plant. But beware: this flower beauty is highly poisonous.

In the sunny bed, Russel's weed (Phlomis russeliana) stands out with its striking inflorescences. Here the yellow single flowers are arranged in small whorls along the stem. The beauty of this perennial: it is also attractive long after the flowering period, which lasts from June to July, and shows their eye-catching seeds until next spring. The steppe sage 'Mainacht' (Salvia nemorosa) with its deep purple spikes of flowers forms a beautiful contrast in color and form. It has been blooming since May and depending on the weather until the end of June. In addition, he relished us with a reliable after-flowering in September.

A classic in the garden and a popular perennial for bouquets is the marguerite (leucanthemum), which looks like the daisy's big sister.Depending on the species and variety, it also flowers already in May and partly into September. Even the first daylilies (Hemerocallis) now open their flowers. The color spectrum ranges from white to all imaginable yellow and orange tones as well as pink and red to brown. Also, the size of the flowers varies depending on the species and variety. Especially popular are the large-flowered hybrids. Rather inconspicuous in comparison are the small, elegant flowers of perennial clematis (Clematis integrifolia). This herbaceous species of the popular climbing plant, for example, is very well suited for planting mural crowns or rockeries and thrives even in a partially shady place in the garden.
