Make Grave Arrangement for All Saints Day - instructions for beautiful grave decorations

The Content Of The Article:

On All Saints it is tradition to decorate the graves and to provide them with arrangements. You do not even have to buy these. You can also do it yourself.

All saints are honored the dead

All Saints Day is a religious festival celebrated on the 1st of November. As the name implies, all saints are remembered on that day. On this day, it is especially the custom to go to the cemetery, to visit the deceased relatives and to decorate their graves. Particularly popular are arrangements, which are available a few days before in abundance everywhere to buy. But why buy, if you can do it yourself? Creating a grave arrangement for All Saints Day is fun, cost-effective and requires no special previous knowledge. You do not even need many materials for that.

You need this for a grave arrangement

❍ floral foam:

Funeral arrangements are easiest to do with floral foam as the base itself. The very light and relatively soft mass is available in blocks of different sizes and can be easily cut if necessary.

❍ Branches:

Branches are the nuts and bolts of the grave arrangement. Use the tops of fir or spruce branches as closely as possible.

❍ wire:

Ordinary flower wire is inexpensive and quite sufficient for the production of a grave arrangement.

❍ pliers:

You will need a pinch or combi pliers to cut the wire.

❍ knife:

If you want to cut floral foam, a knife with a long, if not jagged blade is just right.

❍ Decoration material:

Now your taste is in demand! Especially natural materials such as fir and pine cones, dried flowers, ferns, tree sponges and dry agave leaves, but also wooden figures or colored wooden balls are popular. Especially in this often wet-cold time around All Saints' Day, these materials last very long.

How to make the arrangement yourself

❢ First cut the base made of floral foam with the knife. As a guide for the size you can estimate a diameter or an edge length of 25 to 30 centimeters. The shape should be even, for example round or square. Smaller deviations are not further problematic, since the floral foam is covered anyway later by branches and the decorative material.

❷ Now insert the branches into the floral foam in such a way that they are inclined in a circle from the center to the sides. The further inside the mating point, the longer the branch should be, so ideally all branches terminate in a circular path around the base.

❸ All decorative materials that have no natural tips, first fix with wire. This works very well with fir and pine cones by passing the wire between the individual sheds. For straw flowers you can simply wrap the wire around the stalk. Tree sponges can be pierced.

❹ Now you only need to place the floral foam in a color-coordinated pot. So your arrangement has a secure hold and can not fall over in wind and weather.

Tricks for a tasty grave arrangement

When distributing the decorative materials, a little tact and sense of the right measure is needed. On the one hand, the arrangement must not be so overloaded that there is hardly anything left of the branches. On the other hand, it should also not seem dull and careless. A tip for last:

In terms of color you should always choose a main color for your arrangement. Always use an odd number of deco materials. So for example a fir branch and three red grasses. This makes the arrangement look more harmonious.
