The dark moth has a span of about 20 millimeters and as a special feature on the brown forewings, near the top, a large, shiny metallic, copper-colored mirror; the hind wings are light gray. The caterpillar, also known as the "fruit moth" or "worm in the apple", is about 20 millimeters long, pale pink with dark warts and brown head.


Against the codling moths use pupation places at the end of June, in the form of approximately 10 to 20 centimeters wide corrugated-catching belts, from which regularly remove the larvae.
