Concrete foundation make yourself - costsNo matter what you want to wall, you basically need a solid foundation, because this is the only way to ensure that a wall can not lose its safe footing.
The foundation is cast from concrete and is a work that can also do the home improvement.
The preliminary work for the concrete foundation
But before you can start, some preliminary work has to be done. First, the question is to clarify how thick the foundation should be. Here is the rule of thumb: The foundation should be three times as thick as the thickness of the later wall. Decisive in this context is the soil condition. If in doubt, a structural analyst should be consulted to calculate the thickness of the foundation.
Furthermore, it must be clarified whether supply shafts should be considered, depending on the respective use of the structure. After the excavation has taken place, the subsoil must be compacted. For this purpose, a vibrator is required, which can be borrowed in many hardware stores.
Subsequently, a sand layer is built up and then a gravel layer, which must also be compacted. Now the actual foundation is lined with a building foil. The building foil ensures that no moisture from the soil can penetrate the walls later.
Now a formwork is created, which protrudes about ten centimeters at the edges of the future foundation. It will
much easier to pour in the following concrete,
because the formwork, which is otherwise made of wooden boards, the concrete can not flow out on the sides. So that everything really becomes straight, a guideline should be drawn, at which one can orient oneself well. From the outside, the formwork must be well supported, so that it does not break under the pressure of the concrete.
Pour the concrete foundation
With regard to the concrete, it can be delivered directly to the construction site by an appropriate specialist company, or it can be used as a ready-mix. Such ready-mixed concrete is available in the hardware store and is perfect for quite small foundations. It is mixed according to the manufacturer's instructions and left in the formwork. On the other hand, if you receive a visit from a concrete mixer, this will take over the filling of the formwork.
The easiest way is of course to have the concrete delivered to the foundation. However, one must expect twice as high costs. The cubic meter of ready-mixed concrete costs roughly € 150 gross, while only half of the ready-mix for the same area is payable.
If the foundation for the construction of a garden shed or a garage is used, a steel mesh must also be introduced into the ground. This way, cracks can be prevented on the one hand and, on the other hand, the stability is decisively improved.
