With simple methods and a little muse you can create delightful decorations that carry your personal signature.
Material and tools
- Styrofoam hollow sphere, divisible
- Glass pieces (eg Efco Mosaix)
- Glass nuggets (1.8-2 cm)
- Mirror (5 x 2.5 cm)
- glass pliers
- silicone adhesive
- Plastic spatula
- bristle brush
- kitchen towel
Step 1 and 2: Slant the bowl and stick the inside of the bowl
In order to stop the peel, the undersides of both halves of the styrofoam ball are bevelled with the cutter (photo left). This creates a flat surface. Also, remove the edge of the hemisphere to get a smooth surface. Think in which colors you would like to make the mosaic. With the pliers glass pieces and mirrors can be easily broken into small pieces. Coat the inside of the ball with silicone glue and distribute glass stones and shards with enough space (about two to three millimeters) (right). Then make the outside in the same way.
Step 3 and 4: Fill joints and rub dry cement
If the hemisphere is glued all over, the Fugenzement is stirred according to the package instructions with water. Fill in all the gaps between the stones by using the brush several times over the entire area (photo left). After about one hour of drying, wipe off the excess cement with a damp kitchen towel (right).
