Painting doors - Tips & Instructions

Once you start painting your doors, it will come back to you at regular intervals. It is best to hang the doors for painting and put them on bucks.
If you do not have enough space, you can leave the door hooked, but you have to pay attention to "noses" when painting.
Old layers of paint can be sanded off. Often it is enough if you just loop. If the old paint is made of synthetic resin paint, you should not use an acrylic paint for the new paint job.
Which lacquer?
You can use both solvent-free and -containing paints. So that the doors do not stick to the frame when they are closed for the first time, you have to pay attention to the block resistance. Inferior dispersion varnishes do not have enough and are therefore unsuitable for doors. Even synthetic resin paints are not ideal. It takes a long time to dry. Acrylic paints based on pure acrylate are often recommended. Especially with white doors, the advantage is that they do not turn yellow.
Oil paint?
You can also use oil paints for doors. These are available in a variety of shades. The oil colors have the advantage that they do not have to be sanded off like paints every time.
preparation
Of course, everything has to be removed from the door. The door leaf and the door frame are sanded. Loose paint coatings are removed. Before roughening you should test whether the surface is also sustainable.
You take a piece of tape and press it firmly on the door. Then the tape is removed quickly. Dissolve paint or varnish and stick to the tape
hang, the door must be sanded properly. If it comes to the removal of the paint to holes or flaws, you can eliminate them with two-component polyester putty. After filling, grind the spots once more. Wooden parts that can form joints with the frames are sealed with acrylic. After sanding, the door must be cleaned of any dust residues.
first coat
The primer coat with precoat serves to fill the pores. It is quick-drying and easy to sand. You first stroke the corners and edges. For this you use a brush. Then you take for the large areas a role, preferably a foam roller. You always work quickly and without interruption. The primer coat should not be applied too thick, it is better to do it two or three times. In between, always let the layer dry well. If the door is dry at the end, it has to be sanded again.
paintwork
Even with the actual painting, the corners and edges are first painted with a brush and then the large surfaces are rolled. After the first layer of lacquer has dried off, it can be painted a second time with lacquer. But then you do not have to sand again.
touch up
If you have overlooked "noses" and the paint is already dried, they must not be edited with a brush or roller. Leave everything to dry well and gently wipe your nose. Of course, the latches have to go back and you have to hang the door again. If you can, you should leave them open for as long as possible.
