Lime in the garden: what for?

Soils naturally have a different pH and are therefore not ideal for every plant. In order to improve unfavorable soils, these are optimized with additions of different substances. Lime is used in the same way and helps increase the pH of the soil if it is too acidic. Even neutral soils can be prevented from acidifying with a small amount of lime, as in humid, Central European climates the soil gradually becomes more acidic over time. Lime affects the ground as follows:
  • the nutrient supply to the plants is optimized

  • Soil warms up faster in the spring
