More than 100 rose experts evaluated the new varieties at the 58th International Rose New Products Competition on June 15, 2010. 105 new products were available. These were maintained by the Baden-Baden Garden Department for two years - with minimal use of pesticides, so that the examiners could also assess the disease resistance of the roses against typical fungal diseases such as mildew and blackspot.
The most beautiful new breed - the "Golden Rose of Baden-Baden" - was chosen as a bright pink hybrid with yellow tint in the center of the flower. The long-stemmed tea hybrid comes from the traditional French rose farm Delbard and has not yet a variety name.
Even if you are not a proven rose specialist, a visit to the rose novelty garden is worthwhile, because the many forms, colors and scents are an experience for all the senses.
