But not only visually makes such a gravel path a lot. He is also easy to put on and that without any machinery. Even laymen can do it. On top of that, it is an inexpensive alternative to slabs and paving paths. You can let off steam creatively too. This means that you can lay out the path straight or curved at will and also with different widths. There are no limits to your imagination or your taste.

You need this:

  • Embroider
  • Maurer cord
  • spirit level
  • spade
  • laying hammer
  • shovel
  • compressor

  • Edging stones
  • round palisades
  • Frost protection gravel (grain size 0/32)
  • Mineral mixture / recycling gravel (grain size 16/32)
  • garden fleece
  • gravel

Step by step instructions

❶ Before you start the path, you must, of course, first of all plan the route. Should the road be straight or swing? If the decision is correct, then you have to stake out the course with the help of embroidery and mason's cord and thus mark. Make sure that you have to bring the mason's cord with the spirit level to the height of the upper edge of the travel limit.

❷ Now you have to pick up the spade and cut off the ground along the mason's cord. Then lift the road surface about 20 centimeters deep.

❸ To prevent the path from later spreading on the surrounding lawn, you must now dig lawn edge stones as a lateral boundary and hammer in the laying hammer. Check again and again that the stones are aligned exactly vertically. Wherever curves are planned, you should resort to round palisades.

❹ Now you have to pile up half the way with the antifreeze gravel and compact everything well. Then comes a 10 centimeter thick layer of mineral mix / recycled gravel. Pay attention to a gradient of up to 2 percent to avoid water retention. Then also re-compact the layer.

Ver Then lay the weed fleece so that grass and weeds can not later grow through the new gravel path.

❻ Now you can give the actual gravel or grit on top of it. The gravel or grit layer should have a thickness of about 5 centimeters. The layer must be distributed just below the edge of the lawn.
