In plants, an iron deficiency is clearly noticeable when actually green leaves turn yellow, sometimes even pale yellow, but the leaf veins themselves remain green. Then it is high time to compensate for this deficiency with a special iron fertilizer from specialist retailers.

Here we tell you what to consider when using iron fertilizer and how to use it correctly. First of all, because of its toxic components, iron fertilizer must always be stored safely in front of small children!

Iron fertilizer is poisonous!

Iron fertilizer is usually extremely toxic, which is why you should avoid direct contact with the fertilizer and should therefore wear sufficient protective clothing when using it. The reason for this is the ferrous sulfate contained in the iron fertilizer (sulfur-iron compound).

Tip:
Those who do not trust themselves to dispose of the iron fertilizer should rather look after a specialized specialist company with this task.

Furthermore, you should not spill iron fertilizer on terraces, paving stones, in buckets, etc. This can cause ugly stains, which usually can not be removed anymore.

┬╗Use with individual plants:

If you have noticed an iron deficiency in a plant (is common in petunias), the iron fertilizer can probably provide dosed remedy. However, you must absolutely observe the manufacturer's instructions regarding the application and dosage. Otherwise, there is nothing to keep in mind when planting.

┬╗Use on lawns:

But you can also work with large lawns, where iron deficiency is clearly visible, with an iron fertilizer. The best time for this is the spring, so that the lawn can recover optimally throughout the season.

Tip:
Iron deficiency in the lawn is due to the nature of the soil. It is recommended that in such cases a soil sample be examined in a specialized laboratory.

However, iron fertilizer is not always used only in the case of iron deficiency, but also in the case of strong vermoosen of lawns. Here, the moist moss surface is destroyed by the iron fertilizer. i.e. she dies (moss turns brown to black). Then you can easily remove the moss with a rake.

And so apply the iron fertilizer on the lawn properly:

Ideally, the application is carried out in early spring, so that the lawn can be greened again. However, you should mow the lawn for fresh (about 1 week before), so you can water the mossy surface directly with the iron fertilizer-irrigation water mixture. Alternatively, you can also use an iron sulfate granules, which you only need to scatter evenly on the mossy lawn.

No matter which variant you choose: after that, you must not enter the worked area for about 1 to 2 weeks under any circumstances. You must also keep your pets away from the lawn, otherwise there is a risk of poisoning!
