Expelling mole - 8 tips

The Content Of The Article:

They are useful, they are also cute to look at - but please not in your own garden! We're talking about moles. With their tiny little blades, moles create a subterranean vein system that many hardly believe possible. The result is unloved mounds on the lawn of the garden. How to fight the mole or rather expel, explain our 8 tips.

Mole distribute tips

One must not kill a mole, because he is under protection of speciesbut you can drive him out. At least you can try these possibilities:

Tip 1: pour sour yoghurt or sour milk into the aisles
For this classic household tip, you'll need to remove the mound and expose the mole hole. Then just the sour yogurt, or the sour milk, tilt in the mole passage. Then a little soil on the home remedy, so that you are not bothered by the smell and repeat this with as many holes as possible. If you're lucky, the mole will soon be fed up with it.

Tip 2: Expelling Mole with a crash
To invite many children or at least to work a lot in the garden, especially several days in a row. Moles love the silence. If they are disturbed throughout, that could drive away the little scoopers as well.
The classic among the products is certainly in this context, the "Maulwurfschreck" (available here), which emits vibrations every 40 seconds into the ground and in this way Mole, Vole and Co. distributes.

Tip # 3: Expel mole with empty glass bottles
That's how it works:. Dig the empty bottles near the molehills into the ground and let the bottleneck look out about 10 centimeters. The wind now creates sounds that the moles can not stand, and so may move.

By the way: Purchased agents that emit sound waves or fragrances are not only expensive, but usually also ineffective. Who can live with the mole and the hills, should not drive off the beneficial insect, because he eats ground pests.

If you are not satisfied with the above-mentioned remedies against the mole, you can find more ways to expel the mole.

Tip 4: catch mole trap with live trap
The live trap allows a gentle capture of the animals. No matter if mole or voles. However, the moles must then be released again unscathed in another place, because they are under nature conservation - information is given by the responsible nature conservation authorities or locally based foresters.

In addition, established live traps must also be checked regularly by the garden owner - several times a day - so that the wild animal does not have to remain in captivity for too long or could eventually even die in the living trap.

Mole trap

My favorite tip against the mole: This molehaw trap, with which you can catch the mole alive, brought the mole after 3 days to light!
The part costs only about 15 euros (here at Amazon) has solved the mole problem so far but permanently.

Mole evict tips hills

Tip 5: Put molehills under water
However, another way of distributing it is that already existing molehills are submerged. In doing so, the garden owner should make sure that he thoroughly flooded the soil and stepped a little hard. However, it is important to be careful that the mole is not directly in the hill area at this moment.

Even with stubborn animals, this process must certainly be repeated several times, until they then but usually finally look for the distance.

Tip 6: Construct fragrance barriers
The construction of different fragrance barriers in the corridors has proven to be very effective in repelling moles from their own garden. As a rule, it is sufficient to spread a human hair tuft.

However, if the garden owner does not want to sacrifice his own hair, he can try it with garlic, a self-made soapy water or a mixture of milk and whey. Alternatively, buttermilk would also work.

On top of that, specialist retailers even offer special moles (or odor drops) that have already been soaked with these fragrances and can be easily laid out in the aisles. They quickly drive the mole, which is irritated by the unfamiliar scents, into flight.

Alternatively, a mole pesticide can be used, which scares the animal only from the garden, but otherwise is completely harmless to him - in no case acts deadly.

Update 2011:
Through one of our advertisers, we came across two other ways to avoid molehills in the garden.

Harald Unger, co-owner of the supplier, told us about many phone calls he made with desperate garden owners and confirmed the ineffectiveness of noise developers and gasifiers. They harm the environment, annoy the neighbors and are a useless expense. He recommends two products that really help:

Tip 7 - Mole Net
The Mole net, a horizontal barrier, is installed when the lawn is rebuilt. For nearly twenty years, this environmentally friendly product has been helping optimally. The little villagers can build their passages unhindered below the grid, but the pushing up of the unloved molehills is surely prevented. At the same time, the aisles can not be pushed in when walking on the lawn. The lawn remains as beautiful as it is. Incidentally, robotic lawnmowers are not affected by the plastic grid.
Complement: Due to the good many years of experience, the provider has now even extended its warranty to 25 years.

Tip 8 - Vertical barrier for retrofitting
Another product is the vertical barrier MolEX-F. The special Spitznoppenfolie is intended for retrofitting. Many sports fields have been permanently released from the mole problem.
