Garden happiness for 186 days: Under the motto "grows, lives, moves." yesterday, the Landesgartenschau in Lahr, Baden, 20 kilometers south of Offenburg, opened its doors. 38 hectares of garden showcases invite visitors from near and far throughout the summer and until 14 October 2018 to an unforgettable experience. Of course, MEIN is also part of this as Europe's largest gardening magazine. The experts at MEIN have created their own show garden on the site in recent months and invite visitors to their summer living room.
Garden planning to feel good
"It is a homely garden," explains editor-in-chief Andrea Kögel. "We demonstrate in our show garden how to realize a very attractive, imaginative and homely garden in a relatively short time." Curved paths made of broken gravel open up the entire garden area. They lead to a shady seating area under a tree where natural stone recesses invite you to relax. Through baffled gates you reach a furnished "sensory path" past fragrant herbs and perennials to a furnished sun terrace, which is paved with shell limestone. A raised bed, a small greenhouse and delicious trellis fruit in the garden offer the opportunity to harvest their own fruit and vegetables. Flowering tub plants, natural privacy screens and a fountain trough with a water feature add to the atmosphere.

In addition to the show garden, MEIN also organizes a garden academy twice during the Landesgartenschau Lahr, on May 19 and on September 22, 2018, from 11 am to 12 noon and from 2 to 3 pm. Here are roses and perennials in focus - darlings in countless gardens, but not always easy to handle. Editor Dieke van Dieken shows in workshops how to properly care for the popular plants.
Experience for all senses
All in all, visitors to the Landesgartenschau Lahr not only expect wonderfully newly designed and beautifully planted show gardens and parks, but also over 3,000 cultural events and culinary delights on the garden grounds.
