Whether monochrome or with a pattern - who wants to protect themselves from prying eyes on the balcony, needs a privacy. Here are presented 8 model variants.
Not everyone has their own garden where they can spend their free time in spring and summer and enjoy the sun. But even a balcony can be a great place to relax, if you are undisturbed there. Especially in the cities, the houses are usually close to each other, so that one is not safe on the balcony from the eyes of the neighbors.
But that does not have to be so, because after all, you can simply attach a privacy screen to the balcony and then enjoy your peace. The choice of possibilities is huge. However, if you know in which direction you need a screen, then the selection is a bit easier. Here are some variants presented for different directions.
Privacy screen on one side
Variant 1 - install the screen:
Not always a complete privacy around the entire balcony is necessary. All too soon you feel constrained. Sometimes even a screen is enough for a specific side out. For example, a fitted screen is perfect and offers the simplest solution.
Variant 2 - Use plants as a privacy screen:
A very simple possibility is the planting of higher growing plants in flower boxes, which you can then hang on the side of the balcony railing. Of course, the same goes with potted plants that you place on the ground.
Variation 3 - green trellis:
Alternatively, you can also plant a trellis. This is how the privacy screen looks especially natural. You will also find individual items made of plastic or wood in specialist shops, which you can set up as privacy screens. Again, some models can be planted.
Pipe winds are very good for planting, for example. Our reading tips: Planting a Pipe Winder - Optimal Screening and Colorful Facade Greening.
Variant 4 - attach side awning:
A slightly more expensive solution is to attach a side awning that can then be opened or opened like a fan. However, you must drill holes in the facade of the house, so that a sufficient stability is ensured.
If you live for rent, you must always ask your landlord for permission before such actions.
Screening towards the street
Variant 5 - Attach the tarpaulin to the railing:
If you want to keep your eyes off the street, from below, then you should choose a tarpaulin that you have to attach to the balcony cladding all the way to the floor. On the tarpaulin extra eyelets are available, through which you only have to pull a string. With this you can attach the screen then on the railing of your balcony. The great thing about this variant is that you also have good wind protection at the same time.
Variant 6 - Attach the straw mat to the railing:
You can also use a low straw mat as privacy screen if your balcony faces the street. The mats can be cut to the desired length and easily attached to the railing with laces or cable ties.
Privacy protection upwards
Variant 7 - Attach the awning:
Sometimes you also want to prevent homeowners from looking over their own balcony. So you need a shield upwards. The safest method is to attach an awning that you can extend as needed.
However, as you also have to drill the facade in this case, you must first obtain the permission of your landlord!
Option 8 - set up a parasol:
A cheaper and easier option is the installation of a large parasol. You do not have to damage the façade and can only clamp it when needed. At the same time you also have a good sunscreen.
