The strawberry mite is only 0.2 millimeters in size and lives hidden in the soft heart leaves of strawberry plants. It sucks on the leaves, which subsequently become brown and leathery hard and crippling. The fruit base also suffers, especially in late maturing varieties.
In the case of infested strawberry plants, the foliage should be mown and destroyed after the harvest. Do not take offspring from sick mother plants. Constant cleaning of the strawberry plants worsens the living conditions for the mites. Grow strawberries in mixed culture with garlic or onions.
