Paint bathroom tilesIf you get dreaded daily in the morning after getting up in the bathroom, given the old and ugly bathroom tiles, it may be time to think about a change.
The bathroom should be a place where you feel really comfortable - just how, if you can not make friends with the optics? In the worst case, these may still be brown tiles from the 70s. Much nicer, of course, are lighter tiles, which make the bathroom appear more friendly. Anyone who does not have the necessary change or even the time for a complete renovation can make do otherwise and let the bathroom shine in new splendor.
Paint over bathroom tiles - no problem!
A few years ago, almost unimaginable, but now no longer unusual and in principle quite simple: It does not make dirt, does not cost much and goes fast. Very important at the beginning of the action is that the tiles are absolutely clean and fat-free. Therefore, you should clean this thoroughly and most of all with a high-pressure cleaner. Hereby you get the dirt from the very best. Alternatively, there is also a special means for tile cleaning. Here, however, extensive scrubbing is announced!
The next step is to roughen the tiles by sanding them - either by hand with an emery paper or with
a sanding fleece. Then there is an extensive inspection of the joints: what is cracked should be repaired beforehand. Next, all the fittings located in the bathroom are removed, so you really get into all the corners when painting.
Now the paint can be applied: To
one is a primer and the other a coating needed. In the specialized trade one can inform oneself about this, get advice and buy the suitable color in the desired color or even mix it.
Apply primer and sand, then the paint is on the line
It is important for the procedure to pay close attention to the instructions given by the manufacturer - for example, how and which components must be mixed together. That optimizes the final result! First, the primer is applied, which usually has to dry through at least one night. The easiest way to do this is to use a foam roller. Again, this primer should be sanded, otherwise the paint may not adhere optimally.
Then you can start with the beautification action. The tiles get a new look! Again, the use of a foam roller offers itself. Depending on the selected varnish, a second order is usually made after a further drying time - which, incidentally, may take 2 or 3 days to complete. If it is a dark tile to be painted, maybe even a third coat is due.
Only when all layers have been applied and well dried, you can attach the fittings again. A little patience is needed here, but it's worth it!
So easy is the painting of the old and hideous tiles! If you apply the paint properly and neatly, the finished tiles are just as durable as any other tile. Finally: The bathroom shines in new splendor and you look forward to the morning toilet in a pleasant and friendly bathroom atmosphere!
